Rose Marie Olstad, age 84 of Viroqua, died Thursday January 4, 2018 at Vernon Manor.

Sample ImageRose was born on November 3, 1933 to George and Rose (Seiler) Meyer in Belleville, IL. Rose married Byron Edward Miller who died at the young age of 38 in 1968. She fell in love again and later married John Odell Olstad on June 27, 1970. John also preceded Rose in death on October 16, 1985.

Rose was a hard worker who loved everybody but no one as much as her family.

She worked at McDonald’s, and Augustine’s in the restaurant industry. She also worked as a CNA for local nursing homes as well as St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. Rose a constantly caring and lovingly devoted mother and grandmother, was always looking after her family which prompted her move to the Viroqua area, on N. East Ave. in Viroqua on May 19, 2001. Before the move she would travel and spend month(s) long visits with family in the area. She was a people person who loved long conversations. A local weight watchers ‘icon’ Rose was always ‘giddy’ and full of life, this despite double knee replacements and heart issues, she was a rock. She loved animals, adored cats and dogs like tutu, just go ask ‘Bella’.

Rose is survived by: her daughter Tammy Logan of Viroqua, a granddaughter Becky Logan of Westby and her sister Georgie Ann Bruehle of Oak Fallon, MO and a niece Barbie O’Donnell. She is further survived by: her brothers and sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Richard) Mellen, Connie (Bob) Marsh, Glenn (Luanne) Olstad, Annette Korn of Coon Valley and Nancy (Joel) Graw as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by; her parents, both husbands and a step-sister Lolly Reifschnider.

Blessed be our memories of Rose. She will be dearly missed.
