Sample ImageMargaret Sawinski was born in Vernon County on August 29, 1938 to Virgil and Irene (Ames) Phillips. Upon graduating from DeSoto High School, she eventually moved to Racine and it was working there that she met Warren Sawinski. On June 26, 1965 Margaret was joined in matrimony to Warren. Later, she went on to get her assistant nurses certificate. She was devoted in her work as a nursing assistant and caregiver at Bethel Home and Services for over 27 years where she picked up her nickname “Muggs”. In the 55 years that Warren shared with her, she never said a cross or demeaning word about anyone ‘not a one’ she was a purist in heart. She was also a nature lover, especially her birds ‘humming birds’, checking them off as she found new species always traveling with Warren with her binoculars. She even collected humming bird artifacts, which she valued as much as her collection of Hummel figurines.

Margaret is survived by: her husband of 52-plus years Warren, her children Jahn (Beth Mende) Sawinski and Gretchen Sawinski, and grandchildren Andrey and Luke Sawinski.

Muggs was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Ronald.

The family wishes to extend their sincerest thank you's to the Doctors and staff at the Bland Clinic in Westby.
