Linda M. Proffitt

Linda Martha Proffitt, aged 68, died peacefully on May 13, 2018 in her home in Ferryville, WI.

Linda was born in Mountain View, MO to Henry and Elsie (Brotherton) Gimpel on January 31, 1950. She went to high school at Mountain View High School and graduated in 1968.  Linda married Tommy Proffitt on June 1, 1968 in Mountain View, MO.  When Linda was young, she worked in a bakery with her aunt, there she learned how to bake and decorate cakes.  She made beautiful cakes for her children during their childhood.  Linda enjoyed snowmobiling and boating with her husband and kids, fishing with her dad and husband, camping with her friends, and traveling by car.  She loved visiting her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed baking her signature peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for her friends and family.  Linda also loved to play Euchre and enjoyed listening to country music. She made beautiful, crocheted afghans in her spare time. Linda wasn’t much of an athlete but bowled with her husband on a fun league for many years.  Her greatest athletic accomplishment was a hole-in-one.

Linda is survived by: her husband Tom Proffitt, daughter Kimberly Proffitt, son Kenneth Proffitt, grandchildren Kesley and Alexander, many brothers and sisters and cats Baby K and Fluffy. 

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many, including Mitch.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ for Linda will be Friday May 18, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, in Viroqua. Charley Fisher will officiate. Friends may call on the family during a visitation for 2-hours before the service, from 11:00 to 1:00 at the Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow the service at the Pavilion, in Ferryville, WI.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or charity of donor’s choice in Linda’s name.
