Barbara 'Barb' Czarnik, 59 of Ferryville, died Monday, July 21, 2014. Barb was born on February 23, 1955 to Steven and Mary (nee Hammon) Gile, in Wisconsin. She married Jim Czarnik in 1976, they were later divorced. In 1994 Barb met Jim Hatlan and they have been together for 20 years. Barb enjoyed going to the demo derby, caring for others and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and sister. Barb is survived by her significant other Jim Hatlan; children, Kelly Czarnik and Anthony Czarnik; step-children, Jason Hatlan and Brian Hatlan; grandchildren, Arthur, Braiden and Bentley Hatlan; siblings, Mike (Rhonda) Flick, Elly (Keith) Poppe, Patricia (Jess) Sackett, Ann Gile, Tammy (John) Bingham, Joe (Jackie) Gaulke and Diane Januesheske; brother-in-law, Harvey Ferris; step-mother, Evelyn Hatlan-Leirmo; special friend, Liz Broadhead; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, AA friends and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betsy; brothers-in-law, Dean and Nick; and step-father, Archie. A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 24 at the Vosseteig Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua (123 W. Decker Street, Hwy 56) with Pastor Judie Jacobson officiating. Interment will be in the Hauge West Prairie Cemetery, Sterling Township. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday July 23 at the funeral home and will continue from 10:00 am until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
