Betty Stoltz, 93, of Viroqua, died on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Betty J. Stoltz, age 93 died Sunday, August 10, 2014. She was born on July 27, 1921 in Jefferson township to Selmer and Myrtle (Peterson) Oberson. She graduated from high school and Vernon County Normal School and taught school in Vernon and Crawford Counties. On May 24, 1943 she was united in marriage to Gerald A. Stoltz at St. James Catholic Church, Rising Sun. While she and Gerald lived in LaCrosse, Betty worked at the garment factory and rubber mills. They farmed from 1950 until retirement in 1979. She was a very active member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. She is survived by her children: John (Jennifer) Stoltz of LaFarge, Jane (Bernard) Harter of Viroqua; Joyce (Roger) Humfeld of Westby, Jerome (Vangie) Stoltz of Honolulu, Hawaii; 10 granddaughters; two grandsons; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Marguarite OConnell and Jeannette Stoltz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on April 23, 2011; one grandson, Larry Humfeld; and great-grandson, Jake Kohlmeier. Blessed be our memory of Betty J. Stoltz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. Monsignor Francis Abuah Quansah will celebrate the Mass with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday after 9:30 a.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
