Carlyle Sherry, 92, of Viroqua, died Sunday, September 27, 2015. A. Carlyle Sherry, age 92 of Viroqua, died Sunday, September 27, 2015. He was born on February 24, 1923 in Soldiers Grove to Sidney and Ella (Wee) Sherry. On December 29, 1944 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Heal and three days later he was sent to the European Theater to serve in the US Army Infantry Division. After 2 years he returned home and he and Bonnie started farming in Liberty Pole and Gays Mills areas. They then purchased a farm in the Viroqua area where they farmed for 38 years prior to moving into Viroqua. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and also the Westby American Legion Post #155. In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by one daughter, Lori (Mark) Jacobson of Westby; two grandchildren: Kristin (Eric) Potter of Onalaska, and Eric Jacobson of LaCrosse; two brothers, LaVerne (Aleda) Sherry of Soldiers Grove and Philip (Charlotte) Sherry of Viroqua; one sister-in-law, Joanne Sherry of Viroqua; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gordon (Eunice) and Elling; and two grandsons. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Stephen Minnema will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the Viroqua Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua.
