Douglas Steele, 36, of Gays Mills, died Friday, May 1, 2015. SFC Douglas W Steele, 36, of Gays Mills passed away unexpectedly May 1 2015 in Viroqua. He was born on April 24, 1979. He was employed with the Sand Prairie Construction and the 107th Support Maintenance Company in Viroqua. He enlisted in the National Guard on March 14, 1997 and completed Basic Training on August 15, 1997. He started his AIT training on June 9, 1998 and completed it on September 15, 1998 as a 63W Wheel Vehicle Repairer. He was mobilized with the 107 Support Maintenance Company to Fort McCoy, WI on January 27, 2003 to May 24, 2004. He completed 91K Armament Repair Training on March 23, 2009. He was then promoted to SFC on July 11, 2012. He served his entire service of 18 years with the 107 Support Maintenance Company. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family, friends, and guard unit. He is survived by his wife Jackie (Fenton); three kids: Trea, Raiden, and Hemi of Gays Mills; parents, Tim and Rebecca Steele (Jerrett) of Gays Mills; three brothers: Ivan (Autumn) of Boscobel, Dustin (Tasha) of Gays Mills, and Kyle (Jessica) of Boscobel; In-Laws, Jim and Marilyn Fenton of Boscobel; sister-in-law, Jamie (Ben) Lathrop of Boscobel; brother-in-law, James (Nancy Suthers) Fenton of Monroe; nieces and nephews: Trinity and Keanlee of Boscobel, Landon and Lilly of Gays Mills, Ruger and Olivia of Boscobel, Daryen Heisz, Jaden, Angelina, Sam, and Emmylea Lathrop of Boscobel, and Brandon Suthers of Monroe; grandparents: Wayne Jerrett Sr of Gays Mills, Lucille Steele of Richland Center, and Sarah Steines of Eastman; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Burial will follow at the Mt Zion cemetery with Military Honors. A luncheon will follow at the Armory in Viroqua. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials are preferred.
