Eleanor Irene Hase, age 88 of Viroqua, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby for the past 10 years. Eleanor was born August 27, 1918 in Dell, WI to Carl and Ruby (Mortenson) Holt. On April 11, 1938 she was united in marriage to Theodore Roosevelt Hase of Maiden Rock, WI. They farmed most of their lives in the DeSoto and Readstown areas. Eleanor worked at the Vernon County Home in Viroqua as a Nurses Aide until she retired. She loved gardening and was especially proud of her roses. She also had a special love for animals and birds. She is survived by one sister, Janice Ford of Blair, NE; four sons: Ted (Dee Ann), Keith (Matilda Fortun), and Steve (Jeanette) all of Viroqua, and Alan (Gail) of Helendale, CA; three daughters: Pat Cholak of Kenosha, WI; Linda (Sherman) Bekkum of Westby, WI; and LuAnn (Chip) Coenen of Appleton, WI; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Carl and Ruby Holt; her husband, Theodore; two brothers: Rueben and Andrew Holt; five sisters: Thelma Henningson, Ida Worman, Emily Marshall, Margaret Stormont, and Dorothy Johnson; and one great granddaughter, Casey Cina. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Franklin Lutheran Church. Pastor Peter Beckstrand will officiate with burial in the Franklin Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 7 p.m. on Friday at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker, Hwy 56 in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
