Elnora Dahl

Elnora Dahl, age 85 of Viroqua, died Thursday, November 22, 2007. Elnora Dahl, 85, of rural Viroqua passed away on Thursday evening, Nov. 22, 2007, at Lakeview Health Center, West Salem, WI. Elnora was born December 19, 1921 in West Prairie, Vernon County WI to Elmer Louis and Anna Theolina (Simonson) Peterson. On April 16, 1940 she was united in marriage to Ernest H. Dahl. Elnora and Ernest farmed on Asbury Ridge in the Town of Viroqua. Elnora was only 12 years old when her mother passed away. This influenced how Elnora lived her life, being a mother to her brothers and sisters long before she gave birth to her own children. She is remembered for her gardening, a love of music, and feeding people with her excellent cooking and baking. Elnora had a can-do work attitude and was happiest when the family was working together. Elnora enjoyed family picnics, picking flowers, photography and walks with her dog, Yenta. Elnora was a woman who took her faith seriously and believed in the power of prayer. She was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Hauge Lutheran Church. The Rev. Nordsletten had a profound influence on Elnora's understanding of what it means to be a Christian. Elnora was a founding member of Living Faith Church in Viroqua. Elnora is survived by her 4 children: Eldon (Linda) of Chaseburg, WI, Rodney (Mary) of Chesterland, OH, Ann Louise of Hudson, WI, and James (Marjorie) of Ft. Atkinson, WI; five grandchildren: Jon (Julie) of Madison, WI, Eric of Chesterland, OH and Gina, Leah and Andrew of Fort Atkinson, WI; two great-grandsons, Erik and Hans of Madison, WI. She is further survived by her brothers: Melvin (Margaret) Peterson of Janesville, WI and Palmer Peterson of Cottage Grove, WI; two sisters: Alice (Wallace) Engrav of Red Wing, MN and Ruth Olene Lothen of Wausau, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by husband Ernest in November, 2001, brothers: Loyd, Bernard, Clarence, Edwin; and sisters: Bertha and Evelyn. Funeral services for Elnora Dahl will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 30, 2007 at Living Faith Church, 852 N Main, in Viroqua, WI. The Reverend Fred Sindorf will officiate. Burial will be in the Viroqua Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the Vosseteig Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker St. (Hwy 56) in Viroqua on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. or at the church on Friday after 10:00 a.m. The family would like to thank those members of Lakeview Health Center who befriended Elnora and treated her so well during her stay there. Their kindness to her will not be forgotten. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
