Ernest Alan Blair, age 102 of Viroqua, died Monday, March 7, 2011 Ernest Alan Blair, age 102 of Viroqua, died Monday, March 7, 2011. He was born on September 13, 1908 in Nebraska to Alan and Elizabeth (Matis) Blair, and six weeks later the family moved by covered wagon to Kansas. Five years later they moved by train to Ogilivie, MN (North of Minneapolis) where the family farmed. In 1948 Ernest married Mary (Robbins) and they moved to Berlin, WI. They moved to Neshkoro, Cazenovia, then Neillsville, WI. In 1962 they moved to Viola where they farmed until 1984 when they retired and moved to Viroqua. Ernest is survived by two nieces: Shelly Jean Trefz and Mary Faye Sandberg; two nephews: Russell Sherman and Sherman Sandberg; daughter-in-law, Marion Brundage; and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; one brother, Guian Blair; three sisters: Eunice Blair, Mina Lewis and Lucile Sherman; four step-sons: Eugene, Julian, David and Karl; two step-daughters: Geraldine and Mary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 9:00 a.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
