Gwendolyn L. (Gwen) Tisthammer, 86 of La Crosse, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 Gwendolyn L. (Gwen) Tisthammer, 86 of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 25, 2014 at the Benedictine Manor in La Crosse. Gwendolyn, who we all knew as Gwen, was born on May 26, 1928 in Richland County, Wisconsin to Marion and Nora (Morgan) Bailey. Gwen married Stanly Tisthammer on August 9, 1951 in Elkader Iowa. Gwen worked as a telephone operator for 40 years in Gays Mills, Boscobel and Viroqua. Gwen is survived by her son David of La Crosse; two sisters, Lenice (Leo) Stafford of Richland Center and Donna (Lloyd) Duha of Eastman; two half-brothers, Leland Bailey of Viroqua and Paul (Wanda) Bailey of Cedar Falls Iowa; three half-sisters, Judy Bailey of Janesville, Jean (Stanley) Miller of Viroqua and Lucy Baily of Sparta; she is further survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley; son, John; two brothers and sister-in-law, Marion Jr. (Judy) and Rennie Bailey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosclia (Burl) Gander, Chloe (Harland) Grandstaff, Rudy (Dallas) Keepers, Geraldine (Dutch) (Cecil) Miller and Darlene (Mike) Smith; and a half-sister-in-law, Carol Bailey. Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Utica Lutheran Church with Pastor Nile Sandeen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes of Viroqua and Gays Mills is serving the family.
