Gwenith L. Linrud, 79 of Westby died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 Gwenith L. Linrud, 79 of Westby died Wednesday, September 12, 2007. She was born October 30, 1927 in Superior, WI to Dr. Clarence C. and Mabel J. (Thompson) Smith. She was also baptized in Superior. She and her parents lived in Rib Lake, WI., where her father practiced dentistry. They moved to Westby in the early 1930s where her father continued his dental practice. Gwen was confirmed in Westby Coon Prairie Church and graduated from Westby High School in 1945. She continued her education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, and graduated from Marquette in 1948 in the Dental Hygienist program of the dental school. She married Donald Linrud Jr. at Country Coon Prairie Lutheran Church on August 15, 1950. She and her husband resided at the Linrud family farm from 1950 to 1956, at which time they moved to Westby. Gwen practiced as a Registered Dental Hygienist for 42 years. Nineteen years for her father, Dr. C.C. Smith; Dr. V.A. Brenden for 22 years; Dr. Mary Gajewski for 1 year at which time she retired. She was a life member of The Order of Eastern Star, Viroqua Chapter No. 35, and a member of Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church, Chaseburg. Her family had dogs all their life. She adored each one of them and had a special bond with them. They all were her pals, companions, and spoiled babies. She mourned them deeply when they departed. She enjoyed times with her family, antiquing, and music before her health failed her, but never lost her interest. Gwen loved music and She could listen to it for hours. She is survived by her daughter Laurie L. Anderson of Westby, WI; grandson Adam Anderson of Eau Claire, WI; cousins; one nephew, Clarmont Jacobson of Chaseburg, Wi. She was preceded in death by her father December 6, 1966, her mother October 23, 1994 and her husband July 27, 1995, her father-in-law Oscar Linrud, mother-in-law Mabel Linrud, brother-in-law Clarence Jacobson, sister-in-law Gelma Jacobson, and several cousins, aunts and uncles. Gwens daughter and grandson were the most important part of her journey through life; they were her sunshine and reason for living. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church, State Hwy. 162 Chaseburg, WI. Pastor Dan Wollman will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 4 6 with Eastern Star Service at 5:30 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Hwy 14 S. in Westby. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Vernon Memorial Hospital Dialysis Unit; The Masonic Scholorship Fund or Viroqua Chapter #35 Order Of The Eastern Star. Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
