Irene V. Wang, 78, of Westby died on October 8, 2009. Irene V. Wang, age 78 of Westby, died on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was born on October 10, 1930 in Vernon County to Ole and Myrtle (Swiggum) Paulsrud and on August 16, 1947 she was united in marriage to Leif Wang. She raised Aaron and Brandon Wang. Irene was a good Norwegian lefse baker and had even sent some to Italy. She raised her children, worked on the family farm and loved her family. She was a life member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, a member of Bloomingdale Ladies Aid and the Westby Coon Prairie WELCA. She is survived by her five children: Beverly (Verle) Erickson of Viroqua, Larry Wang of Toulon, IL, Katherine (Wally) Hemmersbach of Cashton, Roger (Geri) Wang of Junction City, KS, Frederic Wang of Westby; ten grandchildren: David (Jenny) Erickson, Dana Erickson, Kristine (Phil) Dare, Leslie, Lynn, Lori, Roger Jr., Jolene, Aaron (Nikki) and Brandon: 10 great-grandchildren: Chelsie, Taylor, Elizabeth, Emma, Elle, Alexandra, Addison, Sawyer, Zach and Erik; one brother, Tilford (Jan) Paulsrud of Janesville; one brother-in-law, LaVerne Wang; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Schye, Marilyn (Ray) Snodgrass and Eunice Wakefield.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leif on April 2, 2001; her parents; one daughter, Deborah Irene Wang in 1975; three sisters: Gertrude Weber, Clarice Manke and Margaret Amundson; four brothers: Tilford in infancy, Jerry, Clifford and Orbeck.Blessed be her memory. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery, rural Westby. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Westby Coon Prairie Church or Coon Prairie Preservation Fund.The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
