Leland Jacobson, 64, of Janesville passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014, shortly after being admitted at St. Marys Hospital in Madison, Wis. He was born in Viroqua on November 5, 1949, to Hjalmer and Hilda Jacobson. Leland went to Viroqua High School, and graduated at WWTI in La Crosse. Leland enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed his annual trips to Scotland to visit his family. He worked at SPX in Delavan for 20+ years, where he worked with collegues who became friends. Leland was a man who enjoyed life and was forever a kid at heart. Leland is survived by his children, Melissa (Mark) Inverarity of Aberdeen, Scotland and Stacy Xala of Killeen, Texas; grandchildren, Ella Inverarity, Yessenia Xala, Kailey Xala, and Mya Xala; siblings, Betty (Alf) Erickson of Westby, Janette (Ronald) Fanta of Marshfield, Wis., and Marilyn (Raymond) Solberg of Beloit, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmer and Hilda Jacobson; and siblings, Alf Jacobson, Ernest Jacobson, Sherman Jacobson, Beverly Oium (Jacobson), Edith Lindvig (Jacobson), Myra Schuler (Jacobson), Fredrick Jacobson, Steven Jacobson and David Jacobson. Lelands family would like to extend a special thank you to family and friends for all of your prayers and the compassion and excellent care the medical staff provided. Leland was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a kind-hearted man with a heart of gold. He holds a special place in the hearts of people who knew him and will be greatly missed, but will remain in our thoughts forever. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Thursday, August 14, at Skogdalen Lutheran Church, 4315 Oakdale Ave., Westby. Pastor John Dumke will officiate. Burial will be at Skogdalen Cemetery, Westby. Lunch will be provided after burial at the fellowship hall. Family and friends may attend visitation at Skogdalen Lutheran Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday.
