Lois Fortney

Lois Fortney, 97, of Viroqua, died Monday December 7, 2015. Lois Geraldine Fortney, 97 of Viroqua, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at Bethel Oaks in Viroqua. She was born July 26, 1918 to Guy and Mertie (Kast) Harris in South Dakota. On February 9, 1938 she was united in marriage to Cyrus Fortney. Lois work for J.C. Penny Company for many years. She was a member of Running-Johnson-Ray Post 3032 Auxiliary, Viroqua Eagles Auxiliary, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Lois is survived by her daughter, Mertie (Roger) Swangstu of Beloit; two grandchildren: Jason Swangstu and Alexis (William) Mosher: four great-grandchildren: Storm and Tieraney Swangstu and Cyrus and Waylon Mosher: sisters: Bonnie (Bob) Smith, and Phyllis (Don) Hagen; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Fortney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus Fortney on January 5,1978; her parents; sisters: Florence Swiggum and Viola Jensen; and brother, Elwin Harris. Blessed be our memory of Lois Geraldine Fortney. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Daniel Wollman will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon.
