Mary R. Benson

Mary Rosalyea Benson, age 95, of Readstown passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 7, 2023. She was born to Joseph and Opal Sanford in Miami, Oklahoma on April 6,1928.

Mary met William Benson in Anaheim, California. After marrying, they moved to Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin where they were tobacco farmers for a while. Mary retired from factory work in her late sixties. She went on to be a greeter at Walmart for 10 years. Mary was very active and drove until she was 90.

Mary was a diligent crocheter. She crocheted many beautiful tablecloths, afghans, scarves, dish cloths, and names. As much as she enjoyed crocheting items, she enjoyed gifting them to family and friends. Mary was extremely talented.

Mary is survived by her son, Forrest (Barbara) Noland of Rockford, IL and her daughter, Yvonne (Harold Dobbs) Cisneros of Boscobel, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Lisa (Steve) Kreul, James (Janelle) Cisneros, Gilbert (Darcey) Cisneros, Corinna Lobato, Junior Lobato, and Stacey (Kenneth) Yaeger, all of Wisconsin, Annette and Clinette Teague and Dennis Fisher of California, and Allen (Bei) Noland of Deer Park, IL; as well as 18 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; husband, William Benson; daughter, Gretchen Taylor; and grandson, Jack Teague.

Per her wishes, no services will be held for Mary.
