Merlin A Tryggestad, age 91, died Sunday March 20, 2016 at Bethel Home in Viroqua. Merlin A. Tryggestad, age 91 of Viroqua, died Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born on October 1, 1924 to Albert and Ella (Hanson) Tryggestad. On June 30, 1947 he married Lorraine Henden. Merlin was a cheddar cheese-maker at the creameries in LaFarge, Chaseburg and Coon Valley. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Viroqua; daughter Debra Tryggestad of LaFarge, son Mark (Terrie) Tryggestad of Amery, daughter Kathryn (Cameron) Bergendorff of Evanston, IL, and daughter, Janet Sherry of Chaseburg; grandchildren: Mike (Jen) Tryggestad of Denver, Colorado, Matt (Jackie) Tryggestad of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Tanner Tryggestad, of Grafton, Kayla Tryggestad of Grafton, Jennifer Bergendorff of Evanston, Cameron (Niccola) Bergendorff of Vista, CA; three great-grandchildren: Kaia, Nora, and Miles; one sister, Karen (Beuford) Olson of Viroqua; brother-in-law, Dwain (Alice) Henden; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Maynard; sisters, Darlene Lee and Dorothy Burt; and son-in-law, Arthur Sherry. Blessed be our memory of Merlin A. Tryggestad. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Viroqua Church of Christ. Larry Mosher will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery.
