Nicholas "Nick" Lee Miller

September 2, 1980 — May 31, 2021

Nicholas “Nick” Lee Miller, age 40, of rural Viroqua, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 31, 2021. He was born on September 2, 1980, in Waukegan, Il, to Tim and Judy (Hogan) Miller. Nick spent much of his childhood outdoors in the woods or on the lakes hunting and fishing. He treasured the time he spent learning how to be a great outdoorsmen from his father Tim Miller and grandfather Austin. He graduated from Tremper High School in Kenosha, Wis. Following high school, he attended college to study auto body mechanics. He later entered the construction field and worked for the State of Wisconsin through the SEMCAC Energy Conservation Program. In the past few years Nick had begun to build a hunting and tracking business Trails End Tracking and Game Recovery. He and his partner Oliver made an amazingly successful tracking team. Nick was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and building things (especially things on his wife's honey-do list). He met the love of his life, Amy Siferd in 2001. After a relentless pursuit of her hand in marriage, they were happily married April 5, 2005 (legally) and then again on June 18, 2005 (formal wedding). Together they celebrated 16 years of marriage. In 2001, Nick and Amy welcomed a daughter Jayden Rose Miller into the world. She was his beautiful princess and sidekick in the kitchen. On March 20, 2008, Nick became a proud father to Trace Austin Miller. Nick and Trace shared so many wonderful adventures together in the outdoors. Trace loved to go fishing with his Dad more than anything in the world. Nick and Amy lived in Kenosha until 2010 when their path led them to Dakota, MN. It is there where Nick was an active volunteer with the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Dept., Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and 4-H. In December of 2019, Nick started Trails End Tracking and Game Recovery. Nick was looking forward to attending his daughter’s graduation from high school on Saturday and seeing his son enter middle school. He was also excited to begin next chapter of his career as a commercial fisherman during the off-season months. He was a phenomenal cook and loved taking his time to prepare and create meals from scratch. He took great pride in providing his family's meals that were grown and harvested by his own hands. Nick was one of the kindest big-hearted men you could ever have the privilege of knowing. He put himself fully into everything he set his mind to. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife Amy Miller; his two children Jayden and Trace Miller; his parents Tim and Judy (Hogan) Miller; his sister Theresa Miller; his niece Samantha Taylor; his nephew Seth Taylor; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; his best friend Josh (Shannon) Harmon and their boys Cole and Hunter; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen (Meyers) and Steven Siferd; along with other relatives and friends. Nick was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his cousin, Shane Miller. A private celebration of Nick’s life will be held at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua, Wis. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date in Kenosha, Wis. Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua is serving Nick's family. 123 W. Decker Street Viroqua, Wis. 54665 608-637-2100
