Norman LeRoy Rose, 79, of Westby, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 Norman LeRoy (Parkins) Rose, 79 of Westby, died June 17, 2014 at home with his wife of the last 16 years by his side, Teresa (Gerth) Rose. Norm was born in Cumberland, MD in June of 1935 to Mary Stallings & Stanly Parkins to them one child was born, Norman. Norm was adopted by Hamline & Louis Rose, which was finalized in 1942. Norm married Donna Jean Swart of Warren, OH. Together they raised two girls, Eileen (Don) Bailey and Cindy (Mick) Schaub. Norm was baptized in the 1st Church of the Nazarene in Colorado Springs in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Norm later married Beverly Silbaugh. Norm joined the United States Marine Corps on May 28th, 1954. He served during the Korean War. Norm later went to the Nazarene Bible College. He was ordained in 1971. Norm also held many other achievements in his lifetime. He worked for the Sheriffs Department, as a Nurse in TX. ,owned a construction company, had a gun shop, was a Certified Nursing Assistant, and many more jobs. But he returned to be a Pastor in the last 10 years. He enjoyed traveling and went on several cruises in the last few years. He was a member of VFW Post 8021, American Legion Post 155, Westby Lions, and served on many committees of the La Crosse Area Synod. He is survived by his wife Teresa Rose and one sister Gerri (Louis) Beck, two Daughters Eileen (Don) Bailey and Cindy (Mick) Schaub. By four grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren (which includes Caleb who joined the heavenly Father this year). Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor John Dumke will officiate with military honors will follow. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial may be made to the Bethel Butikk in Westby. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
