Pauline A. Stamper died on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Pauline A. Stamper passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the age of 85. Pauline was born on September 23rd, 1927 to Mac and Alma Lewis in Laona, WI. She grew up there and met and eventually married Jess Stamper in 1947. Jess and Pauline lived a long and happy 51 years together, and raised six children. They held a pastorate at The Church of the Nazarene in both Cedarburg and Viroqua, WI, until Jess retired in 1982. They then moved to rural Viroqua. Pauline was always very active in her church, and loved being a pastors wife. She loved to quilt, and garden. Her greatest gift was hospitality, she opened her door to everyone, and no one left hungry. Every single one of her grandchildren would tell you that she always made them feel special. She was the most wonderful grandmother a child could ask for. Pauline is survived by her adoring children: Carolyn Stamper, Peggy (Larry) Rummel, Mary (Dale) Heckman, Steven (Peggy) Stamper, Timothy (Holly) Stamper, and Jennifer (Tim) Zogg. Her grandchildren: Mark (Lisa) Stamper, Jerod (Nicole) Stamper, Jake Belland, Sara (Tom) Cleereman, Emily (Tony) Belland, Kari Rummel, Kris (Pat) Lakenen, Brandon (Becca) Stoen, Theresa Stoen, Tracy Heckman, Mary (Gill) Arevalo, Stevie Stamper, Stacie (Matt), Molly (Troy) Strangstalien, Jess (Ge Cobi) Zogg, Adam, Nate and Hannah Stamper. Pauline is also survived by 38 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother Don Lewis. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Jess Stamper; her parents, Mac and Alma Lewis; her oldest son Michael Stamper; son-in-law, James Belland; grandsons, Craig and Brad Stamper; great-grandson, Jack Lewis Stamper; four brothers and five sisters. Paulines love for God was evident in her love for those around her. She touched the lives of all who knew her with love, kindness and compassion. We praise God for her and her beautiful example. Thank you, Mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. You will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Church of the Nazarene in Viroqua. Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2. Burial will follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
