Peter Nicholson, age 80 of Steuben, died Sunday, March 31, 2013. Peter Nicholson, age 80 of Steuben, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at his home in Steuben. He was called home by the Lord on Easter Sunday. Peter was born in LaCrosse at St. Francis Hospital on August 19, 1932 to Fred and Dottie (Bugbee) Nicholson and was a lifetime resident of Crawford County. When he was a young man, he performed odd jobs before being employed clearing brush and trimming trees for the telephone company. He worked for many years for the Steuben Cheese Factory. Later he worked for Laverne Ducharme of Eastman. After retiring, he performed various jobs in the area. Pete was a talented wood crafter. His hobby was constructing model vehicles, bridges and many other small wooden items. Pete, who never married, is survived by three brothers: his twin Paul (Dolores Miller) of Gays Mills, Phillip of Prairie du Chien, Fred Jr. of Boscobel and two ex-sisters-in-law: Barbara Nicholson and Mary Nicholson, as well as many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and four uncles: Freeman, Valdo, Alvin, Raleigh; and three nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, Hwy 131 and Sunset Ridge in Gays Mills. Pastor Eileen Kuehnl will officiate. Friends may call after 10 a.m. on Friday at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills.
