Rena Stacey Thompson

December 11, 1968 — October 27, 2018

Rena Stacey (Erickson) Thompson, age 49 of the Viroqua and Westby area, died at home Saturday October 27, 2018. It is with much sadness that the family of Rena Stacey Thompson shares the news of her passing on Saturday October 27, 2018, at the age of 49. Rena passed from complications of A1AD, in the comfort of her home. Born to Florene and Howard Erickson on December 11, 1968, Rena was the youngest of a family of 8 siblings. Rena was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua. She graduated from Viroqua High school in 1988. After graduation, Rena attended WWTC in La Crosse and obtained a degree in Early Childhood Development. Rena married Jeffrey Hastings in Sept. 30th 1989, and gave birth to Allyson (Hastings) Green on January 4th 1993. Shortly after, Rena tragically lost her Mother Florene Erickson, who was her beloved friend, and confidant. Rena had a vibrant social life, and was loved by many friends. She loved to spend time at the Viroqua VFW, where she enjoyed socializing and catching up with others. Rena was a lifetime member of the Viroqua Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Rena had much compassion for those who serve our country, including her family members who have served. Many know Rena from her work with the public, both at the Vernon County Court house and North Side Kwik Trip. Rena was very proud and dedicated to her career at Kwik Trip. During her nearly 20 years there, there is not a score of the number of lives she touched. For some, she was a saving grace and listening ear in a time of need. As many know, Rena was an animal advocate and lover. She had many pets over her lifetime, including goats, dogs and kitties who were a huge part of her heart. She gained so much joy from the time spent with her animals. Rena is survived by her Daughter Allyson (Kody) Green of Westby; Companion Kevin Brewer, Sisters Jackie (Earl) Page of Janesville; Carmen Korpal of Norwalk; Anne Erickson of Viroqua; Brothers, Robert (Diane) Erickson, Belle Plaine, MN; Mark (Denise) Erickson, Bluff Siding, WI; and Barry Erickson, Waseca MN.
