Thomas J. Johnson, age 48, of Viroqua, died Friday, November 28, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born on March 22, 1960 to Henry and Mildred (Hammond) Johnson in Climax, Colorado. He attended WTC for Certification in Janitorial Work. He was employed at ORC in La Crosse, Bethel Home in Viroqua, and Janitor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua, and he also farmed. Thomas is survived by six siblings: Eloda Frisby of West Salem, Robert Johnson of Viroqua, William Johnson of Minneapolis, Richard (Kay) Johnson of La Crosse, Valerie (Roger) Springborn of DeSoto, Sharon (Jerry) Yttri of Ferryville; a very special aunt, Martha Hammond of DeSoto; nieces and nephews. Thomas is also survived by all those lives he had touched, including the ones at Caring House in Viroqua and edelweiss on County SS. Tom had a special bond with a few of his nieces and nephews, whom he cherished. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Laurel Diane Johnson Coleman; two siblings in infancy, Donald and Caroline Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at New Hope United Methodist Church, rural DeSoto. Pastor Bill Busch and Father Robert Cook will officiate with burial in the Walnut Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from l0:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
