Verna Berg, age 86 of Westby, died Sunday evening, June 21, 2009. Verna Berg, age 86, of Westby, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born January 11, 1923 to Henry and Bertha (Berger) Engh. On December 17, 1942 she was united in marriage to Olaf Alvin Berg. Verna was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and was active in the WELCA. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway and the Westby Senior Citizens. She was a generous blood donor. Verna enjoyed traveling and took trips to Germany and Norway.She is survived by two sons: David Berg of Westby and Charles (Julie) Berg of Bristol, Wis; one granddaughter, Shelley Berg of Roy, Utah; one sister, Karen (Sonny) Zielke of Chaseburg; one brother, Richard (Audrey) Engh from the state of Oregon; one brother-in-law, Milton Jorgenson; two sisters-in-law: LaVonne Engh and Jo Engh.She was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf A. Berg, who died August 3, 1981; two brothers: Verdell Engh and Harley Engh, and one sister, Ruth Jorgenson. Blessed by her memory. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate witth burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday after 10 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
