Adrian M. Fortun

Adrian Fortun, age 94 of Westby, died Friday July 20, 2018. Adrian Marcellus Fortun, age 94, of Westby went home to be with his Lord and Savior the evening of July 20, 2018. Adrian was born on December 11, 1923 in West Prairie to Arnold and Marie (Swangstu) Fortun. Adrian started farming right out of high school and later was employed at The Trane Company, Taylor Lumber and retired from DeLap Oil and Gas Company in 1995. He married his high school sweetheart, Minnie Olive Hanson, on February 3, 1947. They celebrated 71 years of marriage this past February. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church in Westby. Adrian was talented at building and fixing things, including carpentry and mechanical work. He had a great sense of humor and loved to play games with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Minnie, he is survived by his sister, Eunice Dahlen, his five children: Erryl (Janet), Mike (Ruth), Pam (David) Moe, Greg (Monica), and Randy (Christal Johansen); 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a niece, and other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest and Maurice; two brother-in-laws: Philip Dahlen and Clifford Hagen; one sister-in-law, Jeannette Hagen, and other extended family members. Funeral Services for Adrian are Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church in Westby. The Reverend Lindell Quam will officiate with burial in Bethesda Cemetery following the service. Friends may call during a visitation for two-hours prior to the service, from 11:00 1:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials should be directed to Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church or the charity of the donors choice in Adrians name.
