Aileen Mirtell Kegley, 94 of Janesville, and formerly of Readstown, WI, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, at Vernon Manor in Viroqua, WI. Born on February 27, 1931, to the late Clarence and Clara Sime, Aileen's life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and hard work.
Aileen was a proud 1949 graduate of Readstown High School. On October 16, 1949, she was united in marriage to Allan Kegley. They were married at the Lutheran parsonage in Mt. Sterling, WI. It was a double wedding with Lawrence Olson and Barbara (Ford). Out of this marriage, they were blessed with two daughters, Linda and Marsha.
She worked at JCPenney, both in Janesville and Viroqua; then at Parker Pen for over 26 years in Janesville, and ended her working career in real estate.
Aileen's interests were a reflection of her love for people. She was an exceptional baker and seamstress, talents that brought smiles to many faces and created countless cherished family memories. Her home was always a welcoming place where friends and family gathered, drawn by her inviting spirit and the delightful aromas of her delicious baked goods.
Aileen is survived by two daughters, Linda Howell of Readstown, WI, and Marsha (Ethan) Jones of Janesville, WI; three grandchildren Cheryl (Randy) Halverson, Rodney (Krystal) Howell, and Vickie (Kent Phillips) Schneider; 12 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, with one more on the way; nephew Gary (Barb) Sime of Tomah, WI; along with other relatives and dear friends.
Aileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Allan; a brother Harley (Ethel) Sime; and mother-in-law Helen Connely.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig Sime Funeral Home in Readstown, WI. Burial will follow in the Readstown Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the graveside service, a lunch will be held at the Readstown Advancement Building.
Her family would like to send out a special thank you to Dr. Woody, St. Croix Hospice, Vernon Manor, her favorite nurse, Sally Haynes, and the wonderful CNAs who assisted with her care.
