Alan D. Solverson, age 81, died Friday, September 29, 2017 at Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua. Alan David Solverson, 81, of Viroqua, was born May 12th, 1936 in La Crosse, WI to Selmer and Clara (Bruland) Solverson. He spent a few years of his childhood at the Sugar Creek farm, in 1941 the family moved to their Upper Maple Dale farm near Viroqua. Alan attended Viroqua Schools and graduated in 1955. He attended Madison Farm Short Course for 2 years. Alan then joined the Viroqua National Guard. They were activated to Fort Lewis, WA in 1961-62 during the Berlin Crisis. Alan married Joyce Hoyum April 18, 1964. They have been married 53 years. Alan and Joyce Dairy farmed at Three Maple Farms. They had farmed with Joe Froiseths dedicated assistance for 20 years. They had four children Denise (Douglas) Bolstad, Chris (Char) Solverson, Sherri (Steve) Johnson, Craig (Renae) Solverson. There are seven grandchildren: Kirsten and Trevor Bolstad, Rourie, Neo and Edan Solverson, Anna and Cailin Solverson. He is also survived by a sister Sara (Jerry) Kittleson and their four children: Karla (Ed) Conroy, Ron (Terri) Kittleson, Sandra Hansen and Annette (Jim) Holland. Also great nieces and nephews: Katie (Andres) Llanos, Jill and Emily Conroy, Inga (Nick) Rumsey, Lux Hansen, Aimee Christopher and Erin Holland, great nephew Jackson Rumsey. Alan is also survived by sister and brothers-in-law, Robert and Barbra Hoyum, Sharon Hoyum and Terry and Terry Hoyum; Step-mother-in-law Margaret Campbell; nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by Joyces parents Harold and Jean Hoyum, daughter Deanne, sister-in-law Cheryl Hoyum. Alan enjoyed playing guitar and singing at the Mens Chorus, building wooden trucks, cars and log cabin doll houses. He liked reading and traveling. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pastor Kathy Ingbritsen will officiate with burial and military honors to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7pm on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home (123 W Decker St / Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10am till the time of service at 11. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to Sugar Creek Bible, Bland/Bekkedal Hospice House, Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund or Bethel Home Activity Department.
