Albon Luther Pederson

Viroqua Albon Luther Pederson, age 100, died Sunday January 22, 2017. Albon Luther Pederson passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Bethel Home and Services. He had recently celebrated his 100th birthday. In his final days, he was surrounded by loved ones and caregivers. Albon was born on November 7, 1916 to Mathias and Betsy (Rudser) Pederson on their home farm in rural Genoa. His youth was spent working on the family farm and playing baseball with his brothers. The majority of his life was spent as a hard-working dairy farmer. He married Lucille Cade on February 14, 1945. In 1979, Albon and Lucille retired from their farm on North Ridge and moved to Viroqua. On the rare occasion that he had free time while farming he enjoyed league bowling. After retiring he filled his hours fishing and even started golfing. He was a past member of the Viroqua Country Club. Once he reached his "senior years" he enjoyed the Senior Leagues at Timber Coulee and Serendipity. He was fortunate enough to be able to play the game he loved into his mid-90s and even had a hole-in-one. When he wasnt busy sinking putts he could be found watching his granddaughters competing in high school volleyball, basketball and softball. Albon was a past member of the Viroqua Lions Club, served as both a supervisor and chairman of the Harmony Town Board and served on the Church Council at the Zion Lutheran Church. At the time of his passing he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Viroqua Eagles. Albon is survived by his children, Dennis (the late Janet) Pederson of Rush City, MN and Ann (Paul) Larsen of Viroqua, and three grandchildren, Brad (Krissy) Dunker of Anchorage, AK, Marissa Larsen and Tanya (Vinnie) Pedretti of La Crosse. He had one great-grandson, Will Dunker. He is also survived by a brother, Orris and sister, Gladys. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years - Lucille, daughter-in-law Janet, brothers Oscar, Eddie and Ray and sisters Marie and Effie. Funeral services for Albon will be Thursday January 26, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua at 11:00 AM. Pastor Kathryn Ingbritsen will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to a charity of the donors choice in Albons name.
