Alden L. Steffy

Alden L. Steffy, age 103, of Soldiers Grove, died Monday, October 31, 2022. He was born April 17,1919, to Carl and Bessie (Sherman) Steffy in rural Soldiers Grove. He graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1937. He farmed with his father until his father passed away. Then, he continued farming on the family farm until his mother passed away. He later worked at Farmall Tractor business in Soldiers Grove, ASC business in Prairie du Chien, then the state of Wisconsin Highway Department until his retirement in 1985. After retirement, he worked in a cheese factory, at an apple orchard, and helped harvest tobacco. He married Esther (Zintz) Pierce on May 19,1965. She preceded him in death in 2011. He has lived alone since then.

He is survived by one stepson, Bob (Linda) Pierce; one nephew, Bob Olson; and several step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Alma Olson; wife, Esther; a stepdaughter, Peggy Sebade; a stepson, Earl Pierce; and numerous other relatives.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Wayne Goplin will officiate. Visitation will be held from Noon until the time of the service. Alden will be laid to rest at the North Clayton Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
