Aldoris Everson

Aldoris G. Everson, 92, passed away Sunday February 26, 2017 at Gundersen Healthcare after a brief illness. She was born on December 31, 1924, on the family farm, to Herman and Olga (Skaug) Bergum. She graduated from Westby High School and worked briefly at Grand View Hospital in La Crosse. On May 14, 1948 she married Lawrence Everson. Together they farmed, first in rural Rockland and later in Mindoro WI. They later divorced. Aldoris worked tirelessly on the farms for over 30 years, canning, baking, gardening and sewing. She was a wonderful baker and took pride in the lefse she made every winter as well as the cookies, doughnuts, bread and rolls she made year round. In 1991 she moved to North Fort Myers FL where she lived for 10 years. While there she learned to play bridge, a game she loved playing until she passed away. She was also an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles and crypto-quips. She said those things kept her mind sharp. If you ever needed to know what day a family members birthday was, from her grandparents to her great-great-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and anyone in between, all you needed to do was ask her and she would know it instantly, month, day and year. She is survived by her children, Rodney, Roger (Nancy), and Tom of Onalaska, Greg (Suzie) of Rosemount MN, Rachel (Joan Koelbl) of LaCrescent MN; her sister-in-law Grace Bergum of Chaseburg. She is further survived by 9 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Carl, her sister Ruth Schroeder and her brother Layton Bergum. The family would like to express their thanks to Pastors Julie and Dan Wollman for spiritual guidance and to the medical staff on the 6th floor at Gundersen Lutheran for their exceptional care during her final days on earth. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Aldoris will be on Saturday March 4, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the Vang Lutheran Chuch on Vang Road in rural Westby off Hwy 14 and 61. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Vang Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation one hour prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30. A luncheon will follow.
