Aleda Olene Sherry

Soldiers Grove / Gays Mills Aleda Olene Sherry, age 88, died Saturday February 17, 2018 surrounded by her loving family, at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua. Aleda was born on February 9, 1930 to Ludvig and Anna (Jacobson) Nelson. She attended Brookville Grade School and graduated from Readstown High School. She worked in Viroqua at Tates Store and the County Extension Office. On October 19, 1952 Aleda married LaVerne Sherry at the North Kickapoo Lutheran Church. Together they farmed LaVernes home farm. Aleda enjoyed her church circle, quilting, baking, baby-sitting her grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles and taking trips to Branson, MO to the Country Western Music Shows! Aleda is survived by; one daughter Debra Rasmussen of Madison, two sons Randy (Linda) Sherry of Readstown and Lee (Carrie) Sherry of Viroqua, five grandchildren Teresa (Charles) Dalton of Huxley IA, April Sherry of LaCrosse, Matthew Sherry of Soldiers Grove, and Hallie and Isabella Sherry of Viroqua, two great-grandchildren Abigail and Elliot Dalton, one brother Marvin (Jean) Nelson and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Aleda is preceded in death by; her husband LaVerne, who passed away October 14, 2016, four sisters Margaret Simonson, Lucille Jacobson, Doris Nelson and Ruby Larson-Fradette, two brothers Arnold and Lawrence Nelson, three brothers-in-law Bert Simonson, Dick Jacobson and Roger Larson and one nephew Duane Simonson. Funeral Services for Aleda will be Thursday February 22, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Kickapoo United Lutheran Church on Co. Rd. J. Pastor Chuck Miller will officiate with burial following the service in the church cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation one-hour before the service from noon until 1:00. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials may be directed to the Kickapoo United Lutheran Church / Cemetery Fund.
