Alice Erickson

Alice Belinda (Anderson) Erickson, age 104, of Westby, died on Monday, March 6, 2017. She was born on October 10, 1912 to Andrew M. and Josephine (Holte) Anderson of rural Westby. In 1919 the family moved from Westby to Zumbrota, Minnesota, where she graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1930. She was united in marriage to Melvin R. Erickson of rural Goodhue, Minnesota, August 10, 1932. In 1933 they moved to rural Westby where they farmed until 1965. Her husband passed away January 2, 1965. She then moved to Winona, Minnesota, where she stayed with her sister, Mrs. Gladys Watkins for 26 years. During this time she worked as a nurses aide at the Watkins Nursing Home for 20 years. She moved to Friendship House in Westby on March 4, 1991. She is survived by her son, Robert (Dorothy) Erickson of Westby; daughter, Marilyn (Wayne) Olsen of Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Terry (Cheryl) Erickson of Westby, Kimberly (John) Nichols of Coon Valley, Wisconsin, Tekla (Darwin) Viker of Austin, Minnesota, Craig (Jane) Olsen of Altoona, Wisconsin, and Mike (Kristine) Olsen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six great grandchildren: Keegan and Shanay Erickson of Westby, Leah and Keith Olsen of Altoona, Ambriella and Kalian Nichols of Coon Valley; two great-great grandchildren: Mason and Mckena Erickson; four nieces; and three nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; three brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law. Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the North Coon Prairie Church. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with interment following in Zumbrota City Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. till the time of service at 11. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to the North Coon Prairie Church, Norseland Nursing Home, or Friendship House in Westby.
