Alice Swiggum, 96, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Alice Neoma (Leirmo) Swiggum, age 96, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Vernon Manor in Viroqua where she had been a resident since June 2012. She was born on January 6, 1919 on Nash Ridge, rural Ferryville, to Chris and Clara (Aberg) Leirmo. She was baptized and confirmed at the Freeman Lutheran Church. On August 25, 1940 she married Arthur Swiggum in Iowa. He preceded her in death December 1992. She was a receptionist at the Vig-Gulbrandson Clinic for many years. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading and especially loved being with her family. She is survived by daughters: Judith Thomas, Sonja (Almon) Fortney; sons: Lars (Mary) Swiggum and Jeff (Lori Smetana) Swiggum; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her three sisters: Lillian Hanson, Ruth Lightfoot, Kristie (Orrin) Arneson; and one brother Leslie (June) Leirmo. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be directed to Vernon Manor, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, or charity of the donors choice. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Pastor Steven Minnema will officiate with burial to follow.
