Allen Lium

Allen Lium, age 82 of Westby, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 . Allen B. Lium, age 82, of Westby died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. He was born August 12, 1926 in Vernon County to Alf and Belva (Nyhus) Lium. He married Doris Larson on April 17, 1945. Allen farmed for several years and he worked for both the Vernon County Highway Department and the City of Westby, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Westby City Council, where he had served as president of the council. Allen was a veteran of WWII and was a member of the Syverson-Funk American Legion Post #155 for fifty plus years, and had served as past commander. He was a life time member of the Snowflake Ski Club, Westby Rod and Gun Club and also a life time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where he served as usher and on the board of deacons for many years. He served on the Unseth School Board.Allen is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Michael (Mary) Lium of Westby; daughter, Judie Hooper of London, England and San Diego, CA; three grandsons: Ryan (Mary Jo) Lium of LaCrosse, Matthew Lium of Westby and Jason Hooper of San Diego, CA; one great-grandson, Michael Ryan Lium.He was preceded in death by his parents. A special thanks to all Norseland Nursing Home personnel and Doctors for the wonderful care Allen received: everyone respected him with love and care.Allen was very proud of his family, and to serve his city and country. Blessed be his memory.Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery.
