Allen Moore

Allen Moore, age 73 of rural Westby, died Thursday, December 20, 2012. Allen D. Moore, 73 of rural Westby passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at his home. He was born January 6, 1939, to William and Martha (Benrud) Moore and spent most of his childhood and adult life farming in Dell. On July 23, 1960 he married Carol Buros. Together they raised four children. Allen, will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years. Allen loved to farm and did so his entire life. He hauled cattle for Moore's Trucking for just about 50 years. He continued to truck until his death. While trucking he was usually accompanied by some of his Amish friends. He enjoyed visiting with his friends at the sale barns. Allen loved his John Deere tractors. He spent many hours in the fields planting, plowing, and harvesting. Allen also loved spending time with his family especially his grand children and great grand child. In addition to his wife, Carol, Allen is survived by three children, Kristi (Dennis) Pennel of Sparta, Mark (Mari) Moore of Westby, and Jamey (Laura) Moore of West Salem; 10 grandchildren, Brittany Mast, Darrell Oliphant, Kim Rich, (fiance Jared Nading), Stephanie (Ryan) Ferris, McKenzie and Colten Pennel, Sara and Sophie Moore, and Tanner and Taylor Moore; his mother Martha Moore of Viroqua who died on December 26th, 2012; 1 sister, Sharon (Loren) Olson, 1 sister-in-law, Mary Moore of Prairie City, IA; and numerous other family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his father; a daughter, Rita Oliphant; 2 brothers, Bruce Moore and Kermit Moore; and 1 sister-in-law Marcene Moore. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Dell United Methodist Church. Pastor Karen Bankes will officiate with burial in Dell Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main, in Westby and at the church on Friday from 12:30 until the time of the service.
