Alma Jean Green, affectionately known as Jean, was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Born on April 21, 1953, Jean’s life was a testament to her unwavering optimism, boundless creativity, and loving spirit. She passed away on June 4, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and a lasting impact on the lives of those she touched.
Jean’s entrepreneurial spirit and vision led her to develop and operate several successful businesses throughout her life, including a logging company, cedar shake mill, cedar sleeper pet pads, commercial crayfish operation, and long haul refrigerated transport company. Using her construction knowledge and design expertise, she brought her unique vision and artistic flair to remodeling homes, transforming them into beautiful, functional spaces. Her keen eye for detail and commitment to excellence earned her the trust and respect of all she worked with in her field.
Jean was also deeply committed to environmental sustainability and wholistic living. This passion led her to embark on the development of the Green Shire Organic Farm. At the time of her passing, she was developing an all-season commercial organic greenhouse, honeybees, and plans for five acres of lavender with the goal of producing lavender honey. She had first tried lavender honey while living in Paris, France and wanted to be able to produce it locally.
Jean’s dedication to the well-being of both people and the planet was evident in every aspect of her life, from her personal choices to her professional endeavors. Jean was a lifelong learner and explorer. She had a deep love for animals, gardening, flowers, faeries, and a deep-felt connection with the earth and the universal life energy. Jean was a profoundly spiritual woman who lived her spirituality rather than preaching it. Jean believed that everyone had the power to transform their lives and achieve their highest potential, and she dedicated herself to helping others on their journey to self-discovery and growth. She was committed to leaving every person with whom she interacted a little happier and better.
Throughout her life, Jean was an avid traveler and lived abroad with her husband Fred, immersing herself in new cultures and experiences. She believed that travel was an essential part of personal growth and encouraged others to step outside their comfort zones and embrace the unknown. Jean’s adventurous spirit and open-mindedness allowed her to form deep connections with people from all walks of life and cultures, an she cherished the friendships and memories she made along the way.
Jean was also a gifted writer, using her words to inspire, uplift, and heal. She was in the process of developing an emotional healing center on the Green Shire Farm property and remodeling a 100-year-old Victorian home nearby to serve as an additional retreat facility. She hoped to share her life experiences, wisdom, and knowledge with others and provide a safe space for others to explore their emotions and overcome personal challenges. Although she was unable to see this dream fully realized, her vision and passion live on in the hearts and minds of those she inspired.
In remembering Jean, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, passion, and love. Her unwavering optimism, boundless creativity, and loving spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. As we honor her memory, let us strive to embody the qualities that made Jean such a remarkable person: her kindness, her courage, her determination in the face of adversity, and her unwavering belief in the power of love and positivity to change the world.
