Alma M. Appleman, age 89 of Westby, died Friday, November 28, 2008. Alma M. (Brenden) Appleman was called home to be with her Lord on Friday, November 28, 2008. She was born January 28, 1919 to Adolf and Mathea (Solberg) Brenden. She was united in marriage to Jim W.Appleman on January 28 1939 and they farmed together on Sugar Grover Ridge for their adult life. Following her retirement from farming, she moved to Halvorsen Apartments in Westby, where she resided until her death. To this Union was born four children, Joyce (Gerald) Soffa, Jennifer (Peter) Kingslien, John (Karn) Appleman and Peter (Corrine) Appleman. Her life was blessed with 15 Grandchildren and 14 Great-grandchildren of whom she was VERY proud. She maintained a precious and loving relationship with her two sisters, Clarice Weissenberger of Westby and Alverda Riese of Janseville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Alvin,Stanley, and Virgil; a grandson, DeAndre Kingslien. She was a member of the Sugar Grove Church and enjoyed serving with the Ladies Aid. She had a great love of nature and enjoyed serving the Lord by humbly serving her fellow man. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Sugar Grove Church, rural Westby. Pastor George Shick will officiate with burial in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, rural Westby. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main Street, Hwy. 14 S. in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday after 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family. Grandma Alma, you will be greatly missed by your family who will be forever grateful for the love you have shared. Your memory will live on forever in the generations yet to come. We thank God for the gift of your life.
