Alvin H. Johnson, age 92 of Westby, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 Alvin H. Johnson, age 92 of Westby, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at a LaCrosse hospital. He was born on April 14, 1915 to Hans and Palma (Holen) Johnson. On October 13, 1937 he was united in marriage to Palma Skogland in Waukon, Iowa. They farmed in the Viroqua, Cashton and Westby areas until 1953 when they purchased a farm on Pumpkin Ridge, rural Chaseburg. In 1979 they retired and moved to Westby. Alvin is survived by three children: Harlan of Westby, Margaret (DeLos) Mullikin of Sun Prairie, and Mark (Laurie) Johnson of Coon Valley; seven grandchildren: Shelley (Larry) Gabrielson of Westby, Debra (Jeremy) Kane of Westby, Tara Mullikin of Sun Prairie, Scott (Lenore) Mullikin of Marshall, Craig Mullikin of Sun Prairie, Jeremiah (Marcy) Johnson of Sparta, and Lee Michael Johnson of Ontario; step grandson, Ryan Hernandez of St. Paul, MN; 10 great-grandchildren: Brittney and Brian Gabrielson of Westby, Emily and Mariah Pedretti of Westby, Alexander, Leigh-Anna and Ethan Mullikin of Marshall, Brianna Mullikin of Sun Prairie and Tyler and Darrin Johnson of Sparta; step-great grandchildren: Taryn Radue and Caden Kane; one brother, Reuben (Doris) Johnson of Coon Valley; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1964; mother in1986; sister, Hilda Larson in 1992; wife, Hazel, on March 3, 2004; and daughter, Karen Pike on December 18, 2004. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday after 12:00 noon. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
