Alvina M. Thomas

Alvina M. Thomas, age 82 of LaCrosse, died early Saturday morning, January 7, 2006 at Hillview Health Care Center in LaCrosse. She was born September 8, 1923 in La Crosse, WI to John and Marie (Hoffman) Hagen. On February 1, 1975 she married Spenser Thomas. He died in September, 1990. Alvina worked 43 years for W.A. Roosevelt Company and was very active in the community. She was the past matron of the Ruth and La Crosse Chapters of Eastern Star, and Past Worthy High Priestess of Golden Rule Shrine # 21. She also served as President of the La Crosse Assembly #215 Order of the Beaucent, Treasurer of the Gift Shop of Lutheran Hospital, as well as the treasurer of other organizations in the La Crosse area. Alvina is survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 immediately following a 1:30 p.m. Order of Eastern Star service at the Wesley United Methodist Church in LaCrosse. Pastor Donald Iliff will officiate at the funeral with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday after 12:30 p.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
