Annabel was a graduate of Viroqua High School, class of 1952. Following her graduation, she married her sweetheart, Larry McGarry, on Valentine’s Day in 1953. She worked part time at various jobs before she began her long and fulfilling career at the Nelson Mill and Agri-Center, where she worked for over 40 years. Her service to the community extended beyond her professional life. Annabel volunteered at Vernon Memorial Hospital for 25 years, a testament to her generous spirit and commitment to helping others. She was also very active in her church, Viroqua UMC, where she found great joy and fulfillment in her faith.

Annabel had a zest for life that was reflected in her varied interests. She enjoyed reading, a hobby that allowed her to explore different worlds and perspectives. She loved traveling with her husband, Larry, in their many RVs, creating memories and exploring new places. An ardent music lover, she enjoyed melodies of all kinds. Annabel was also known for her love of walking, often seen covering miles and miles around the area in all kinds of weather.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. Survivors include her children, Rachel (Charles) Turben and Matthew McGarry; grandchildren, Kami (Doyle) Svoboda, Dawn McGarry, and Casey (Roger) Nelson; great-grandchildren, Dustin, Dylan, Konner, Mattea, Mia, and Joel. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna Getter, Harriet Storer, Elly McGarry, Connie (Karen) McGarry, Carol (Gary) Deaver, and Cheryl Arneson, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Lea (Watson) Arneson; her beloved husband, Larry; her son, Joel McGarry; her brother, Tom Arneson; her father and mother-in-law, Frederick and Beulah McGarry; and brothers-in-law, Fritz Widner, Norman Getter, Michael McGarry, and Ray Storer.
