Annette "Netty" Kirchhoff

February 2, 1968 — January 27, 2024

Annette “Netty” Kirchhoff (Copus), age 55, of Ferryville and formerly of Bell Center, passed away at Mayo Clinic in La Crosse, WI on January 27th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Netty was born on February 2nd, 1968, to Herbert W. Sr and Shirley (Morelock) Copus in Burlington, WI. She graduated from North Crawford High School in 1986, and later from Southwest Technical College in Fennimore, WI in 1994. Netty and her long-time partner, Steve Olson, had two daughters; they would later separate. She married Richard Kirchhoff on June 12th, 2004; they had twin sons.

Netty worked for various organizations throughout her life, most recently at the La Crosse County Treasurer's office as the Deputy Treasurer. Netty loved spending time with her husband, children, and friends and coined the phrase “love you more.” She had an infectious energy, smile, and zest for life that spread to all who were lucky to know and love her. Netty’s free and giving spirit and fierce independence will live on through those she loved. She could often be found enjoying peaceful nights by the fire at “the pond,” on the beach at the river with a Coors Light in hand, reading a book, and living it up in her tie dye while listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Netty was an optimist who faced her battle with cancer with resilience, grace, and a tough as nails attitude. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband and rock, Richard of Ferryville; two daughters, Angel (Tom) Gillespie of Soldiers Grove and Abby Olson of Fennimore; twin sons, Nicholas and Shawn (Kayla) of Ferryville; two sisters, Sherrie (Alan) Sime of Gays Mills and Kathaleen (John) McCullick of Gays Mills; three brothers, Herbert Jr. (Angie) Copus of Readstown, Michael (Sherry) Copus of Punta Gorda, FL, and Timothy Copus of Gays Mills; five sisters-in-law: Karen (Dan) Mulawski of Las Vegas, NV, Annie (Steve) Baumgarn of Las Cruces, NM, Patty Listenbee of Beloit, WI, Jane (Charlie) Burleson of Dewey AZ, and Barb (Duane) Senft of Fairbank IA; honorary family members, Don and Pat Olson of Soldiers Grove; and many bonus family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Alice Kirchhoff; her sister-in-law, Jackie Kirchhoff; three brothers-in-law, Charles Listenbee, Gary Blomberg, and Tillman Showen; her beloved dog, Tigger; and other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Pastor Carrie Anderson will officiate. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
