Annette June Shaw

Annette June (Bekkum) Shaw answered the call of God to join him in Heaven on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the age of 91. She grew up in Westby, WI and graduated from Westby High School. Following high school, she worked for Westby Coop Creamery as a bookkeeper and for the County Extension office before marrying Lester Shaw on January 6, 1958. They lived in Wolfgang, West Germany for 1 year when Lester served in the Army. They returned to Westby in January 1959 where Annette was an important part of the community. She provided daycare in her home for several decades while raising four children and serving as Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was active in the Westby United Methodist Church, serving as Church treasurer, historian, and serving on the cemetery committee for many years. She was involved with United Methodist Women locally and at the district level. In her later years, she worked and volunteered at the Bekkum Memorial Library and Norskedalen Nature and Heritage Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents, Alfred and Huldah Bekkum; her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ray Russell; her brother, Owen Bekkum; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Naomi, her brother and sister-in-law, Rolf and Betty Bekkum; her son, James Daniel; as well as grandparents; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

She is survived by her sons, Steven Shaw (Sheila) and Ken Shaw (Annie); her daughter, Susan Amundson (Jeff); her grandsons, Morgan Shaw (Katerina Panina), Kelby Shaw (Lauren Sigfusson), Brandon Amundson (Brittany) and Dylan Amundson (Deanna); six great-grandchildren and other extended family.

Memorial gifts can be made to the Westby United Methodist Church, Westby, WI or the Bekkum Memorial Library in Westby.

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Westby United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. A lunch reception will follow at the church.
