Arden L. Brendum

Arden Brendum, age 75 of Westby, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 Arden L. O. Brendum, age 75 of rural Westby, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 in LaCrosse. He was born on August 2, 1932 at the family farm north of Westby to Severt and Mamie (Hanson) Brendum. A standout Legion and high school baseball pitcher, lefty "T-Bone" graduated from Westby High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Vold on March 15, 1952. Arden retired from Crown, Cork, and Seal in 1993. Even though he "worked in town", his heart was always on the family farm and on the fields. He kept a daily journal of "how many loads" or "how many bushels" came from each field or what date we "finished up first crop", etc. His favorite colors were green and goldthe Packers and John Deere equipment. His great joys came from his familysharing their accomplishments, yet always reminding them to "be careful". Arden is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Dennis Amundson. His grandsons, Andrew, Dane Arden, and Tyler. Sisters-in-law Olive (Vold) Parker and Arlene (Vold) Reed Many dear cousins and several generations of nieces and nephews. Arden was preceded in death by Hazel on August 7, 1998, his parents, his brother, Sherman on December 30, 1972 and many brothers and sisters in law. Your childhood family is now complete, Dad. We await the day when we will meet again. We love you. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m .until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
