Arden Maynard Thompson, 76, of Viroqua, died Sunday, October 30, 2005 Arden Maynard Thompson, 76, of Viroqua, died Sunday, October 30, 2005, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. He was one of six children. He was born September 24, 1929, to Albert and Minnie Thompson, in Viroqua. He married Mary Mason on January 20, 1951 in Viroqua. They had five children: Michael, Theresa, Vincent, Yvonne, and Annette. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael; his parents Albert and Minnie; his brothers Eldon, Kenneth, Richard, Donald, and Duane. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Theresa (Larry) Mauss, Vincent, Yvonne (Curt) Yonts, and Annette (Dan) Sheldon; and his grandchildren Rhiannon, Samantha, Bryanny, Sean, and Michael. Dad farmed in the Viroqua area for 40 years. He loved his wife and family above all else. Dad was a people person who didnt know a stranger. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed, hunting, archery, canoeing, motorcycling, and cross country skiing. He taught his children and their friends to compete in archery and target competition with .22 caliber rifles. More important, he taught them true sportsmanship. He lived his life as a true sportsman with love and fairness to all. He was loved and will be missed by many.
