Arland S. Herried, age 84 of Viroqua, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 Arland S. Herried, age 84 of Viroqua, died early Tuesday morning, February 17, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born on May 19, 1924 to Andrew and Stella (Lem) Herried in Viroqua, Wis. On September 17, 1946 he was united in marriage to Florence Nyhus at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Arland and Florence enjoyed music and danced all 58 years of their marriage. He farmed for many years and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Viroqua Eagles, Country Music Association and enjoyed singing with the Sentimental Senior Singers. He is survived by one daughter, Rita Kay (Fred) Lay of St. Croix Falls, Wis.; two granddaughters: Shannon (Jon) Jacobson of Osceola, Wis., and Kimberly Peper of Taylor Falls, Minn; five great-grandchildren: McKenzie Fortier of Osceola, Wis., Jacob Peper of Taylor Falls Minn., Mattea Jacobson of Osceola Wis., Emily and Maggie Olson of Taylor Falls, Minn.; one brother, Harold (Ethel) Herried; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence on March 14, 2005. Blessed be our memory of Arland Herried. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. The Rev. Lindsay Paul Jordan will officiate with burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery, rural Westby. Friends may call on Friday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
