Arlen "Oppie" Verdell Runice, 63, of Viroqua, died Sunday, November 6, 2016. Arlen was born on November 5, 1953 to Jerald and Irene Runice. He was baptized and confirmed at the West Prairie Hauge Lutheran Church. He graduated from De Soto High School. Oppie was a jack of trades and had a special love for cats and dogs. He loved playing cards with his friends. He enjoyed mowing his lawn on his riding mower. He was everybodys friend and was willing to help anyone. Arlen is survived by his sisters: Beatrice (Jim) Peterson, Lyla Hanson, Dana (Harlan) Waters, Alma (Gary) Robertson, and Mardele (Remi) Moore; brother, John (Ellen) Runice; one surviving aunt, Nellie Burkham; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerald and Irene; brother, Wayne; and his grandparents. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Pastor Jim Aniol will officiate with burial to follow in the West Prairie Hauge Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Retreat church fellowship hall. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 3-6pm on Thursday, November 10, 2016. Friends may also call on Friday from 10am till the time of service at 11.
