Arlene Bergh

Arlene Bergh, age 80 of Westby, died of cancer Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born May 5, 1925 to Nordahl and Sanda (Langaard) Stendahl. Arlene graduated from Westby High School and went onto Coleman Technical College. She worked in La Crosse until her marriage to Loren Bergh on April 19, 1947. They worked side by side on their farm until retirement. She was a member of Westby-Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, Church Circle and ALCW, Norseland Auxiliary, and Westby Senior Citizens. Arlene appreciated the beauty of her surroundings and took pride in the family farm, which has been in the family for more than 150 years. She enjoyed listening to music, playing cards, and being with her family and friends. She took great joy in her grandchildren. Arlene is survived by her children, Richard of La Crosse and Cheryl (Bill) Day of Westby; 3 grandsons, Aric (Brooke) Day of Minneapolis, MN; Cory (Jessica) Day of Green Bay, WI; Brandon (Jessica) Day of Minneapolis, MN; one great-granddaughter, Angelina Day; her sister Anna (Robert) Olson of La Crosse, and her brother Orville (Lorraine) Stendahl of Coon Valley. She is also survived by, and privileged to have had as a life-long friend of over 60 years, LaVina Wedwick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Loren, who died May 13, 2000; and one brother, Noble Stendahl. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Country Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 12:00 (noon) until the time of the service. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
