Arlene J. Ames, age 87 of Viroqua, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Arlene J. Ames, age 87 of Viroqua, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in LaCrosse. She was born on August 28, 1922, the daughter of William and Amanda (Pederson) Berg. On May 21, 1949 she was united in marriage to Dale Ames. Together they farmed and raised their family. Arlene was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She joined Immanuel Lutheran Church after her marriage. She was active in church activities, 4-H, volunteering at the Bethel Home. Her hobbies included walking, crossword puzzles, and reading. She is survived by three children: Marc (Mary) Ames of Viroqua, Linda (Burt) Boman of Cottage Grove, Wi, and Marla (Kevin) Thompson of Viroqua; six grandchildren: Amanda, Serena, and Luke Boman, Ryan and Jenna Thompson, and Samantha Coppernol.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Stephan Ames; and her siblings: Beatrice Bakken, Aldon Berg, and Mildred Berg. Blessed be our memory of Arlene J. Ames Services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Kathryn Ingbritsen will officiate. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Brush Hollow Cemetery, Zion Cemetery or Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
