Arlene M. Kraabel, 75, of Westby died Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Arlene M. Kraabel, 75, of Westby died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Franciscan Skemp Hospital in La Crosse. Arlene was born January 13, 1934 to Melvin and Anna (Anderson) Swenson in Clinton Township. In 1954 she was united with Harland Kraabel into a marriage that would last more than 54 years. She was very active and enjoyed following everyones activities. Arlene also enjoyed Bingo and playing cards with friends. She will be known as a caring person, and a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Arlene is survived by her husband Harland; children Gary (Lana) Kraabel of Janesville, Dennis (Carol) Kraabel, Darlene Kraabel, Jerry "Butch" Kraabel and David Kraabel, all of Westby; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister Mary (Stanley) Stevenson of Gays Mills; brother Marvin (Pat) Swenson of Janesville; sister-in-law Betty Swenson of Viroqua brother-in-law Phil Paradise of Germantown; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings Agnes, Lillian, Albert, Helmer, Milton, Harold and Alfred. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial at Bloomingdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main (Hwy 14) Westby on Sunday, August 23, from 3-5 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 12 noon till service. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
