Artice Cox, Hayter, Anderson 82, of Viroqua died on Monday, February 20, 2012 Artice Cox, Hayter, Anderson 82, of Viroqua died on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Vernon Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. She was born February 11, 1930 in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Louie and Marie (Gibbs) Anderson. She was a graduate of Viroqua High School. Artice was baptized and confirmed Lutheran at the United Kickapoo Lutheran Church in Folsum. On June 2, 1951 she married Bob Hayter and moved to Beloit Wisconsin. From this union three children were born. Artice stayed home and raised her children until they became of school age. She then went to work for First National Bank of Beloit in the office. After that she went to work for Freeman shoe in the payroll office and later transferred to the factory. She could take a shoe and tell you exactly how it was made. She loved her work and her family but tragedy struck her family when her first son Gary (19) was killed in a car accident October 18th, 1972. This was a great shock for her to bear. The doctor advised her to take up ceramics as a hobby to help keep her mind on something else. She did a fabulous job on all her pieces. Artice was a very artistic person and her art work sure showed it. She did this for several years. Her husband Bob was so good to help her. He made her a workshop of her own in the basement of their home. She did this part time and continued working at Freeman shoe also. Then on February 14, 1985 her beloved husband of thirty three years passed away from cancer of the lung. They were truly soul-mates and again another tragedy struck her. After that she stayed in Beloit and kept her home. In August of 1985 she married Roland Cox. They lived in Beloit until 1989 and then Artice and Roland moved back to Viroqua, WI, in her new mobile home. She liked being back in Viroqua and living closer to her mother Marie Anderson. She helped her mother a lot. Then on June 18th 1999 her son Danny (40) passed away suddenly of a heart attack leaving behind his two little girls, a step daughter and his wife. Artice stayed in her mobile home until husband Roland died in January 2000. After that she moved into an apartment until she had to go to the Vernon Manor nursing home where shes been a resident for seven years. She was totally crippled up with fibromyalgia rheumatism and until these last years she couldnt even walk or do anything for herself except feed herself she was so crippled up. Her mind stayed sharp so that was good. You could go and visit her and have a good conversation. She loved her family, her four grandchildren and her only son left Dwain Hayter who is an excellent carpenter just like his dad Bob Hayter. Dwain lives in Pennsylvania so they didnt get to see each other very often but he called and wrote to her. Her very good friend Pauline Molien (Allness) helped her a lot as well as Beth Kilen. Her sister Myrna Allness also helped her a lot. She did not like being in the nursing home but her health was so bad she needed twenty-four hour care. She is survived by one son Dwain (Kathy) Hayter; step-children Kay Lynn and Carey Politzer of Shellington, PA, one granddaughter Chloe Hayter of Loititz, PA; two more granddaughters Kay Lynn Wood and Danielle Hayter who live in Wanamingo, Minnesota and 2 great-grandsons, Nathon and Ethan Wood who also live in Wanamingo Minnesota. She is also survived by her sister Myrna Allness of Viroqua and Karen Nelson of Vashon Washington. Her daughter-in-law Carol Hayter and step-granddaughter Daniel Hayter and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Hayter, also husband Roland Cox; her sons Gary Hayter and Danny Hayter; her parents, Louie and Marie Anderson; and several aunts and uncles; and her brother in-law Johnny O. Allness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua.
